RHU SHIVA at the European Stroke Organisation Conference 2024 and Ilana Caro Young Research Investigator awardee

The RHU SHIVA project was represented at the European Stroke Organisation Conference 2024 at Basel (Switzerland) with Prof. Debette Stéphanie, Ilana Caro, Tim D’Aoust and Dr Aniket Mishra.

This annual conference is a leading forum in Europe for discussing and disseminating the latest advancements and breakthroughs in stroke research.

The SHIVA team presented their works on cerebral small vessel disease, which is strongly associated with risk of stroke:

• Cross-ancestry stroke (gen)omics: from drug repurposing to precision medicine
• An integrative polygenic risk score for all-cause dementia shows potential for risk stratification across population and clinical settings
• Proteogenomics in cerebrospinal fluid and plasma reveals new biological fingerprint of cerebral small vessel disease

And Ilana Caro, PhD student, won the Young Researcher Investigator Award from the European Stroke Organisation for her SHIVA work on the proteogenomics.
