Members of the RHU SHIVA project have participated to the 29th<\/sup> Organization for Human Brain Mapping<\/a> Annual meeting 2023 (OHBM2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ami Tsuchida<\/strong>, SHIVA researcher in the GIN neuroimaging group<\/a>, participated to the OHBM 2023 with a poster on the characterization of neuroimaging markers of covert cerebral small vessel disease in the MRi-Share study<\/a>.<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–> Description 2 prominent markers of cerebral small vessel disease in a large cohort of young adults from the MRi-Share (N = 1,831, aged 18-35 years): white matter hyperintensities and perivascular spaces<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–> Higher amounts of white matter hyperintensities and perivascular spaces are associated with an inscrease of peak width of skeletonized mean diffusivity (PSMD) and a decrease of neurite density index (NDI)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–> Even the small amounts of visible cSVD markers are already associated with signs of compromised white matter integrity in young, neurologically asymptomatic adults.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Frauke Beyer<\/strong>, post-doctorant fellow in the SHIVA consortium, contributed to this OHBM Annual meeting with a poster on the spatial patterns of white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and their link to cardiovascular risk and cognition in two cohorts: the French 3 City study<\/a> and the German LIFE-Adult study<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–> These results show that frontal-periventricular WMH are more related to hypertension<\/strong> while deep WMH in temporal, occipital and parietal lobe are related to obesity<\/strong>. This could help to identify different mechanisms at play during the development of the white matter hyperintensities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–> Spatial patterns reflect known associations of WMH with risk factors and cognitive outcomes but also uncover specific effects, possibly related to different etiologies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
